In this workshop, we will deepen our practice and our Tai Chi Chuan skills. I will also share what I have learned in 45 years of Tai Chi Chuan practice and teaching. For weekly classes in Long Island, read here.
The goal is to provide an enjoyable and stimulating learning and practice experience for all participants, as well as enjoying a community of practitioners who value well-being, health, and sharing. We will be meeting at 440 Lafayette Street, Room 4G, New York 10003. Ring the buzzer "Playwrights."
Early bird pricing good through January 1st. Teachers certified by Grandmaster William C.C. Chen have a special discount using code TEACHER (on the right side of the order form).

The workshop starts at 3:00pm:
3:00 Short Form Refinement - learn to deepen your connection to the energy and flow of the Yang-style Short Form, while also adjusting body mechanics and positioning to align with the Tai Chi Chuan principles; this is a lifelong learning practice
4:00 Push-Hands - we will review various push-hands sequences, as well as having free-form practice focused on awareness and responsiveness. Those who are new will be given special attention to foster a positive experience
5:00 Punching/Applications - this will involve punching with targets (not sparring) and applications. It includes the use of Tai Chi Chuan principles for fluid, forceful punching as well as discussing how the Short Form illustrates handling of incoming pushes or punches. If you have any gloves and punching targets, you can bring those; they will also be provided subject to class size
Note: Private or semi-private instruction is available at 2pm on Workshop days by arrangement; contact teacher for more information

Some testimonials:
-
Master David Alexander’s workshops are an excellent opportunity to practice and improve Tai Chi skills and understanding. A senior student of Grandmaster William C. C. Chen, David’s workshops offer a welcoming, accepting environment for beginning, intermediate, and advanced Tai Chi practitioners to learn together.
~ Master Steven Asherman, Founder of Content Galaxy Tai Chi Chuan Channel
- I have attended the advanced form refinement class, push hands class, and applications classes. Even though I have been studying T'ai-Chi Chuan for over 40 years I always feel that I learn something new in each of the classes. David provides a calm and supportive environment that is quite conducive to learning. He is a keen observer and gives clear, positive feedback.
~ Sifu Bruce McCarter, Instructor of Tai Chi Chuan and Teacher of Buddhism -
I highly recommend the tai chi lessons and workshops with David. Not only has he mastered the forms and techniques, but is able to explain the underlying body mechanics.
This becomes more apparent when push hands and martial art applications are taught and practiced. He is able to teach at all levels, is very patient and provides a safe and very enjoyable learning experience.
